One of 2025’s best action movies is finally available to stream at home
The blockbuster is currently the eighth-highest-grossing film of the year.
F1, the brilliant 2025 action sports movie, is finally available to stream at home through Apple TV+.
Having landed in cinemas last June, the blockbuster sees Oscar-winner Brad Pitt (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood) play Sonny Hayes, an ageing, nomadic, racer-for-hire who gets a second chance at Formula 1 stardom.
Directed by Joseph Kosinski (Top Gun: Maverick), the movie also stars Oscar-winner Javier Bardem (No Country for Old Men), Damson Idris (Snowfall), Tobias Menzies (The Crown), and Irish Oscar nominee Kerry Condon (The Banshees of Inisherin).
Condon plays Kate McKenna, the technical director of Sonny’s struggling F1 team, with the two characters becoming embroiled in a “will they, won’t they” romance.
We here at JOE were huge fans of F1, writing in our review:
“Like Kosinski’s previous blockbuster Top Gun: Maverick, his latest does not reinvent the wheel. It hits all the best beats of the sports movie formula (the behind-the-scenes drama, the rivals learning the importance of teamwork) with such energy, enthusiasm and charm that it is nearly impossible not to be won over by the film.
“It helps, too, that it boasts phenomenal racing sequences. These were accomplished by splicing footage of Brad Pitt and Damson Idris really driving F2 cars, made to look like F1 cars, with footage captured from real F1 races.
“The end result: some of the most authentic, visceral racing scenes we’ve ever seen, which immerse audiences in the action like never before.”
The sports action film was a huge box office hit. Having made over $630 million in cinemas, it is currently the eighth-highest-grossing movie of 2025.
Citing “knowledgeable sources” back in June, Variety reported that the gears were turning on a potential sequel.
And recently, we got more updates about an F1 follow-up courtesy of Kerry Condon.

Speaking to Variety on the red carpet at the LA premiere of her acclaimed Netflix drama film Train Dreams, the Tipperary actress was asked if she had seen a script for an F1 sequel yet.
She responded:
“I haven’t seen a script yet, but I was with Jerry Bruckheimer last week and he mentioned it again.
“He just said that they’ve had meetings.
“But you know in this business, nothing’s for real until you’re literally filming it and even at that, you have to wait till it’s finished.”
Condon also said she hopes an F1 sequel will happen, explaining: “It was one of the best… most fun I’ve ever had on a movie set. It was one of the best jobs.”
On top of this, Bruckheimer told Forbes in an interview published at the end of October that he and fellow F1 producer Lewis Hamilton met a couple of weeks ago and “started talking about some ideas” for a follow-up.
Whether this will be a straightforward sequel or Kosinski’s previous suggestion of a crossover with Tom Cruise’s cult NASCAR film, Days of Thunder, remains to be seen.
