Paramount+ Streaming 2025’s Funniest Movie This Week
Paramount+ may not be the most obvious streaming service for new movies to arrive on, but any time a new film from the studio leaves theaters, there’s only one place that it will arrive. Even though Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning still can’t be found on the streamer just yet, they’ve now confirmed that their other major release for 2025 is now set to premiere on the service. This marks not only a major new addition to Paramount+ as a whole, but brings the funniest film of the entire year home in a big way, perhaps enough to get a sequel officially moving along.
Arriving two months after its premiere in theaters, Paramount+ has officially confirmed that The Naked Gun, the 2025 reboot of the classic comedy film franchise, will begin streaming on the platform this week. Starting tomorrow, Thursday, September 30th, the new The Naked Gun will be available for all Paramount+ subscribers, marking one of the best movies to be added to the service all year.
Is The Naked Gun (2025) Really That Funny?

When it was first announced, a Liam Neeson-starring The Naked Gun seemed like a practical joke to some. The truth of the matter is that Neeson has proven his comedic chops countless times, from appearances in Ted 2 and The LEGO Movie to his television work on Life’s Too Short, The Simpsons, and even Saturday Night Live. The Taken star can tickle funny bones like no one else. In fact, his tough-guy persona from years of action movies and the world-weary face he carries from dramatic roles make him a perfect modern version of Leslie Nielsen, who was himself a dramatic actor before Airplane! and The Naked Gun.
If that’s not a good enough reason, The Naked Gun also has an 88% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, though a slightly lower 73% Popcornmeter approval from audiences. In their review, The Atlantic noted that The Naked Gun is able to “deliver plenty of chortles, along with some wild swings that are just slapsticky enough to work.” The film also managed to pull in an A- CinemaScore from audiences, a clear indicator that it was well-received by those who saw it.
Will The Naked Gun (2025) Get a Sequel?

With its domestic box office run now concluded, The Naked Gun was able to bring in $52 million in the US. Coupled with the $49.5 million made internationally, The Naked Gun cleared over $102 million at the global box office. Financially, this paves the way for a second film to no doubt at least be considered, especially if the first film is able to bring in subscibers to Paramount+.
There is some bad news, though, and that comes via Liam Neeson himself. Speaking with Newsweek at the time of the film’s release, he had a grim outlook on the potential for a sequel, simply saying: “I think it’s a one-off, yeah.” It’s possible that The Naked Gun (2025) could still get a follow-up, but that will no doubt depend on the success of the film’s box office, coupled with a robust streaming response. The good news, starting tomorrow, you can start watching it every day for the rest of your life.
