Three-day Oxfordshire music festival termed ‘incredible’
Wantage Silver Band’s Annual Festival lasted from Friday, October 3 to Sunday, October 5 and included six concerts performed by eight bands.
A registered charity dedicated to education in music and performance since 1972, a spokesperson for the band called the festival “three incredible days of live music, laughter and community spirit”.

Among the bands performing at The Sykes Hall were a range of brass groups as well as the training and big bands.

Held throughout the days, the event also included a grand prize draw, a bake sale, Saturday morning brunch and a bar for refreshments.
The Wantage town crier attended at the start of the event and the 2025 awards were also handed out, with deputy town mayor Chris Walters presenting the prizes.

Gavin Clemons was the Member of the Year, while Sam Wyne won the Ken Robey Meritorious Service Prize and Rosie Hogan took home the Joe Payne Personality of the Year trophy.

Among the songs performed were ‘bring me sunshine’ (well-known after being performed by Morecambe and Wise) and ‘my favourite things’ from The Sound of Music.
The spokesperson of Wantage Silver Band added: “A huge thank you to everyone who came along, clapped, cheered, and supported our music and fundraising.
“Events like this only happen because of the amazing people who give their time and energy to make it all possible. You’re all the best.”
