Iconic Disney villain set for big screen movie spin-off
AN iconic Disney villain has bagged themselves a big-screen movie spin-off.
Disney are currently developing a movie spin-off from Beauty and the Beast centred around the character of Gaston.
According to Deadline, it will be a live-action movie following the character and it is understood to be in the early stages of development.
Gaston was played by actor Luke Evans in the hugely popular 2017 movie which was a money-spinning success.
It led to development of a solo spin-off TV series starring Luke, however it was eventually scrapped.
Now, Gaston is back at the forefront with sources telling Deadline it will be a brand new project with a new actor stepping into the role.
Dave Callaham has written the script for the project alongside Michelle Rejwan who will be producing.
Dave has previously written the scripts for characters including Godzilla and King Kong.
More details on the movie are set to be announced in due course with it understood to have become a priority project for Disney.
However, the announcement does not appear to have gone down too well with fans of the movie franchise.
Many have taken to X to insist there is no need for the spin-off film.
Writing online, one bluntly stated: “Literally no one asked for this.”
Someone else added: “Another pointless live-action cash grab and somehow I’m more irritated at the fact they picked this mf of all Disney villains.”
A third penned: “Let me guess, he’s misunderstood and actually not a bad guy?”
As a fourth went on to say: “Gaston doesn’t need a movie! Make new stories Disney!”
Before a fifth fumed: “Is he misunderstood too? Cmon man not all villains need a backstory, just let em be a******s.”
