Stanley Tucci jokes he’d star in his own action movie Took after Citadel
Tucci recently sat down with Happy, Sad, Confused‘s Josh Horowitz for a discussion. During the interview, the latter brought up the actor’s role in the action-oriented Citadel, remarking how he has never done much work within the genre.
“That was fun,” Tucci replied. He added that for Season 1, he never got to film any action sequences. Furthermore, he recalled how director Joe Russo reshot a considerable portion of the inaugural installment. He continued, “And then in the second season he goes, ‘Stanley, I’m going to give you…I want to do this scene where you just kill a whole lot of people.’”
Tucci subsequently touched upon filming two distinct action sequences: one whose second part was primarily shot in a single take, and another that went on for a very long time. He said it was a “joy” to film those scenes, expressing his fondness for physical activity. Horowitz soon brought up how Liam Neeson started his action career at a late age. To this, the 65-year-old said he was “ready” to do an action film similar to Taken, which he dubbed “Took.”
However, The Devil Wears Prada star was only joking, as such a film is not in development.
All seven episodes of Citadel Season 2 are currently streaming on Prime Video. Josh Appelbaum, Bryan Oh, and David Weil created the series.
In addition to Tucci, Madden, and Chopra Jonas, it stars Lesley Manville and Ashleigh Cummings. New cast members include Jack Reynor. Other additions include Merle Dandridge, Gabriel Leone, and Rayna Vallandingham.
Meanwhile, fans can also catch Tucci in The Devil Wears Prada 2, currently playing in theaters. Helmed by David Frankel, it costars Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, and Emily Blunt.
