Street Fighter Live-Action Movie Release Date Set for October 2026
The new live-action Street Fighter movie finally has a release date. Set to hit theaters on October 16, 2026, the upcoming adaptation of Capcom’s iconic fighting game series is officially back on track after a rocky development.
Yes, we’re talking about a brand-new take on Street Fighter, not the 1994 cult classic that fans still debate to this day. And if you’ve been following the franchise since its early days, this is one to keep an eye on, especially with the recent chaos surrounding Paramount Pictures and a string of questionable decisions that have left fans more skeptical than excited.
Set in 1993, estranged fighters Ryu (Andrew Koji) and Ken Masters (Noah Centineo) are pulled back into the fight when the mysterious Chun-Li (Callina Liang) recruits them for the next World Warrior Tournament. What starts as another brutal clash quickly spirals into something much bigger, with a hidden conspiracy forcing allies into enemies and pushing each fighter to confront their past. Helmed by director Kitao Sakurai, Street Fighter aims to bring the arcade legacy to the big screen in a way we haven’t really seen before.
Of course, the big question is whether this cast can actually pull it off. We already took a deep dive into that, breaking down the hits, the misses, and why we’re still on the fence about some of these choices in our full casting analysis: https://www.theouterhaven.net/street-fighter-2026-movie-cast-breakdown-hits-misses-and-why-im-torn/.
Still, it is Street Fighter. It might be a bit cheesy, and it will almost certainly spark some controversy, but come October 16, 2026, I already know I’ll be grabbing a ticket. Whether I end up loving it or walking away thinking it missed what makes the games special, it’s a conversation I’m not missing.
