‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ Is Getting a Finale Movie as Fans Declare ‘Oh We Won’
It was never really over!
Mere hours after Prime Video released what was set to be the series finale of The Summer I Turned Pretty, Season 3 Episode 11 titled “At Last,” Amazon greenlit a spinoff movie to “conclude the story of the hit YA series,” per Variety’s reporting.
It will be written by Jenny Han, the author of the trilogy that the summer romance series is based on.
“There is another big milestone left in Belly’s journey, and I thought only a movie could give it its proper due. I’m so grateful to Prime Video for continuing to support my vision for this story and for making it possible to share this final chapter with the fans,” said Han during the announcement at the finale red carpet even in Paris, France.
With the full cast in attendance at the celebration, it seems as though everyone is on board for the second-half of the journey.
Naturally, fans are absolutely losing their minds, especially as many of them called for additional episodes before and after the finale aired, to conclude the storyline in a satisfying way. Others even picked up on hints and clues that were seemingly dropped throughout season 3, alluding to the fact that more episodes, a spinoff, or revival were in the works.

Others expressed sadness and disappointment that Conrad (Christopher Briney) and Belly’s (Lola Tung) wedding wasn’t featured in the finale, as it is in the books, nor was there an epilogue showing what happened after they got back together and returned to Cousins Beach. We also didn’t get to see Belly reunite with her loved ones, including Taylor (Rain Spencer), Laurel (Jackie Chung), or Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) upon her return.
It seems all of these storylines could be featured in the spinoff film, though not much is known about the plot at this time.

In fact, many theorized that a movie or additional episode focusing on Christmas could be in the works, since the final few scenes in the episode showcased photos of Belly and Conrad’s Christmas in Paris.
And, of course, there was Han’s subtle, yet effective hint, in her thank you letter to fans that teased a future return to Cousins Beach.
The immediate reaction to the news was just as you’d expect, with fans declaring, “OH WE WON,” “Oh my gosh cannot wait!!! We wants years in cousins please” and “YESSSSS. LETS GO.”
“I’M FREAKING OUTTT HELLO?! 😭💗🫶” another stated, with one comment exclaiming, “Screaming OMG so excited” and a third noting, “This is NOT A DRILL.”
No premiere date has been announced.
