Henry Cavill’s Third Guy Ritchie Action Movie Officially Hits Theaters in 10 Days
Guy Ritchie doesn’t look back; before he can revel in success or wallow in disappointment, he moves on to his next project. Following a string of theatrical underperformers in the last five years, Ritchie pivoted to streaming. He executive produced Netflix’s The Gentlemen, Paramount+’s MobLand, and Prime Video’s Young Sherlock. All three shows have proven to be massively popular, and are set to return with a second season. In 2025, Ritchie also directed his first streaming movie, the action-adventure Fountain of Youth, which cost a reported $180 million and was positioned as something of a franchise-starter. However, poor reviews seem to have thrown a wrench in those plans. No matter, because Ritchie has already moved on to not one, not two, but three new projects.
Mind you, he’s working on them while also putting together the sophomore seasons of his streaming shows. Among these three new movies is Viva La Madness, a spiritual sequel to Layer Cake, the gangster movie that marked the directorial debut of Matthew Vaughn and starred Daniel Craig in a role that helped him get cast as James Bond. Viva La Madness reunites Ritchie with his regular partner-in-crime, Jason Statham. Before that reunion, Ritchie will release Wife & Dog, a dark comedy that stars Rosamund Pike, Benedict Cumberbatch, Anthony Hopkins, and Cosmo Jarvis. The movie is slated for an October 2026 release.
Here’s When Guy Ritchie’s New Movie Will Hit the Screens
The first in Ritchie’s upcoming trio of theatrical movies, however, is In the Grey. Reuniting him with Henry Cavill (The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare and The Man from U.N.C.L.E.), Jake Gyllenhaal, (The Covenant), and Eiza González (Fountain of Youth), In the Grey is an action film that’s set to release on May 15. The movie also features Carlos Bardem, Kristofer Hivju, Fisher Stevens, and Pike. It follows an elite trio of operatives who are sent on a mission to retrieve a stolen fortune. The movie was initially expected to be released domestically by Lionsgate, and was scheduled for January 2025, but it was delayed due to unfinished post-production work and will now be distributed by Black Bear Pictures in North America.
