Jason Statham’s Action Team-Up With a ‘Tulsa King’ Star Explodes Onto Free Streaming
Nobody said action movies had to be smart, or had to make you think, in order to be well worth the time. But this particular set of action movies is like the Ace of Spades, Hearts, Clubs and Diamonds of Dad Movies. It’s like what would happen if every star from Blockbuster Video‘s top shelf decided that they wanted to make a comeback all at the same time. And now, Pluto TV is making it easy to revisit every entry in the series this summer.
All four Expendables movies are joining the streamer’s Americana 2026 collection, and they’ll be available free to watch starting June 29. It’s all part of Pluto’s TV’s celebration of America’s 250th birthday, with 250 films arriving, and they’ll all be free to watch. Just the way we like it! The franchise focuses on Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone), a mercenary leader who assembles a team of elite soldiers (including Jason Statham‘s Lee Christmas) for missions that usually involve taking down dictators, arms dealers, and basically anyone who might be somewhat crooked.
The main ensemble includes Dolph Lundgren (Rocky IV) as Gunner Jensen, Randy Couture (Setup) as Toll Road, Terry Crews (White Chicks) as Hale Caesar, and Jet Li (Hero) as Yin Yang. The wider cast across the four movies also includes Arnold Schwarzenegger (Terminator 2: Judgment Day) as Trench, Bruce Willis (Die Hard) as Mr. Church, and Jean-Claude Van Damme (Timecop) as Jean Vilain.
How Successful Was ‘The Expendables’ Franchise?
The first Expendables was a major hit when it arrived in 2010, grossing around $268 million worldwide against an $82 million budget. The Expendables 2 did even better, taking in roughly $312 million worldwide from a $100 million budget. Things started to slide with the third movie, which brought in around $209 million worldwide, before Expend4bles struggled badly in 2023, earning about $51 million worldwide against a reported $100 million budget. Whether that’s a death knell for the franchise remains to be seen, but Stallone was keen for the “new guard” to take over following the fourth outing, choosing to take a back seat.
All four Expendables movies begin streaming free on Pluto TV on June 29 as part of the Americana 2026 collection.
