Karen Gillan flashes her abs once more as filming begins for third movie in hit franchise
From the smile on her face, it’s safe to say Karen Gillan is delighted to be back filming with her Jumanji co-stars.
The Scots actress was pictured laughing as she posed with fellow actors Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black and Kevin Hart.
The photoshoot to promote the third Jumanji film saw Gillan, 37, once more bare her abs in her character Ruby Roundhouse’s comic-inspired adventurer outfit, comprising of a cropped vest, sports bra, short shorts and hiking boots.
Black and Hart also donned their explorer costumes again while former wrestler Johnson, who plays the Doctor Smolder Bravestone, showed off his pecs in an open shirt, jungle khaki and combats.
Johnson’s costume also had a new, sentimental addition – a necklace that incorporates the dice from the original 1995 movie starring Robin Williams.
In a video, Johnson explained: ‘This is the dice from the original Jumanji with Robin Williams as a show of respect and a way of honouring Robin and this entire franchise that he started as we film our very last Jumanji.’
Inverness-born Gillan, famed for her roles in Doctor Who and the Guardians of the Galaxy films, shared the photos from the new shoot on social media, writing: ‘S*** just got real.’
Hart also celebrated the new movie, writing: ‘Back in action and loving it… I missed you Jumanji … This one will be our biggest!’

Johnson has also revealed his costume now features a necklace that incorporates the dice used in the original 1995 film starring Robin Williams in a nod to the late comedian
Last week, Johnson posted footage and images to Instagram from the new movie’s table read.
He wrote: ‘Amazing to get the whole gang back together, and our jaws were hurting from laughing so hard.’
This film follows 2017’s Jumanji: The Next Level, which rebooted the franchise after Robin Williams starred in a 1995 feature version adapting Chris Van Allsburg’s 1981 children’s book.
In the years since she first took on the role, Gillan, who welcomed the arrival of her first baby Clementine last December, has had to face down criticism for her character’s skimpy outfit.
However, she has always shut down detractors, saying they are missing the irony of the costume choices.
She recently told iNews: ‘I can understand where people are coming from, but it was a commentary on Lara Croft, the male gaze… those are not practical clothes at all.’

Giving an insight into filming, Johnson posted a video on social media this week as he surprised tourists on the Universal Studios backlot as he made his way to the set.
In the video, he said: ‘A little day one of Jumanji excitement. So good to be shooting in Los Angeles.
‘I have not shot a film in Los Angeles in … I don’t know when, so it feels so good to bring a production back home to Los Angeles.’
Jake Kasdan, who directed the 2017 movie and its 2019 sequel, subtitled The Next Level, returns to helm the untitled third film, with the film due for release in December 2026.
The rebooted film in 2017 focused on a group of teenage friends getting trapped inside a video game as a collection of adult avatars.
It made more than £737.8 million while the 2019 sequel topped £627 million globally.
