Netflix adds ‘adorable’ Christmas movie with Oscar-winning legend
Fans of guilty pleasure Christmas movies are in for a treat this week
Netflix has just added a charming Christmas rom-com that is guaranteed to delight fans of recent hits like Merry Little Ex-Mas and Champagne Problems.
This festive film frolic has been well-received by viewers after its original release on the US TV network Lifetime back in 2022.
Subscribers in the UK now have a chance to get swept away by the holiday romance as it’s been released on the streaming giant today (Monday, 24th November).
Not only is the film packed with laughs and a swoon-worthy romance, but beloved Oscar-winner Rita Moreno also takes on a major role.
Santa Bootcamp stars The Walking Dead’s Emily Kinney as Emily Strauss, an event planner hired by the owner of a successful shopping mall to throw a Christmas gala to impress his biggest investors.
She’s sent to a Christmas bootcamp to find the best Santa possible to make a special appearance, where she finds surprising inspiration from drill sergeant Belle (played by Moreno).
The film could be about to become one of Netflix’s biggest festive releases as it holds an impressive 83 percent audience score on Rotten Tomatoes and has built up a strong crowd of fans over the years.
One five-star review on Letterboxd gushed: “Ok, that was admittedly adorable!
“I loved it, every minute! Laughter, smiles, even some tears… it was great character growth, awesome chemistry from the leads. People encouraging each other to follow their hearts and a delightful cast all around!”
“This was pure delight!” another fan raved. “Love seeing Emily Kinney back in a RomCom and she and Justin Gaston had great chemistry.
“This is by far the best thing I’ve seen him in. Great story, great cast, and even a bit of magic. Rita Moreno is 90 years old and is an absolute treasure. I hope Lifetime casts her in more of these movies.”
