Sense and Sensibility hailed as “stunning” as excellent first trailer lands
Sense and Sensibility is coming back to cinemas this September in a “fresh” new take on Jane Austen’s classic, led by Daisy Edgar-Jones. Based on the stunning first trailer for the new version, it could well be a challenger for the beloved 1995 version, starring Emma Thompson.
The trailer, released today by Universal, gives us our first look at all the classic characters in the period romantic drama, including Elinor Dashwood (Edgar-Jones), Marianne Dashwood (Esmé Creed-Miles), Edward Ferrars (George MacKay), John Willoughby (Frank Dillane) and more.
Naturally, there’s a lot of yearning going on too, as well as dialogue that is sure to do the rounds in social media edits when the movie is released such as: “The man who loves me must burn with it.”
At least we don’t have too long to wait to see the rest as Sense and Sensibility is released in UK cinemas on 25 September, ahead of a release in US cinemas on 16 October.

Ahead of its release, Digital Spy attended a trailer preview event for Sense and Sensibility earlier this week with an introduction from Elinor Dashwood herself, aka Daisy Edgar-Jones.
“This film means everything to me. I love the original film and I’ve always wanted to play a period character in a Working Title [film]. Sense and Sensibility is kind of the dream come true for me, so I’m so excited for you to see it,” she noted.
“It is utterly beautiful and stunning, and I can’t wait for you to see the full film.”

The new adaptation has been directed by Georgia Oakley – who previously wrote and directed excellent British drama Blue Jean – and was adapted by Diana Reid from Jane Austen’s novel.
Sense and Sensibility is released in UK cinemas on 25 September and in US cinemas on 16 October.
