3 new movie trailers land as State of Play continues
The latest Sony State of Play is going on right now with lots of game reveals filling the media headlines, but while that’s happening several movies have released their first trailers that you should check out.
Onslaught – Releases 4th September
Another A24 movie for 2026, Onslaught looks to be a movie waging a three-way war: super soldiers versus the killers the government sends to kill those super soldiers against an army veteran.
Said veteran and main character Adria Arjona seems to go through hell and back in the trailer as this skirmish reaches her trailer park.
We have to wonder if Arjona’s character has some past intertwined with the super soldiers. We wouldn’t be surprised if she was part of the same shadowy government programme that created them. That’s the vibes we get from the trailer if if this character is completely standalone we think that works too.
“When a rogue squad of genetically engineered super soldiers break loose in the desert, a badass Army sniper must unleash hell to protect her young daughter,” reads the official synopsis of the movie.
How To Rob A Bank – Releases on 4th September
Coming to theatres on the exact same day is How To Rob A Bank, a movie that has a strong ensemble cast in Nicholas Hoult, Zoë Kravitz, Anna Sawai, Rhenzy Feliz, Christian Slater, Pete Davidson and John C. Reilly.
“In HOW TO ROB A BANK, a crew of social media-savvy bank robbers broadcasts their daring heists, unaware that their growing viral fame has put them in the crosshairs of a veteran FBI agent and a brilliant software engineer. Despite the unlikely duo closing in, the crime ring pushes past their limits, putting everything on the line for their beliefs — and their most ambitious heist yet,” reads the description of the movie.
This is definitely one of those “I feel like I just watched the whole movie” kind of trailers so we’d actually recommend skipping this video if you’re particularly sensitive to spoilers.
We did watch the trailer, and it looks fun enough, but maybe not quite enough to get us to buy a ticket and see the movie in theatres. This really looks like a streaming movie that just shows up on the front page of one of the many services we’re subscribed to, and not a major blockbuster release.
We’ll just have to wait and see if we’re proven wrong.
I, Object – Releases on 23rd July
Last and certainly least here is I, Object – a New Zealand movie featuring a facial hair-less Karl Urban who recently finished up his stint with The Boys.
“Watch the trailer for I, OBJECT from acclaimed New Zealand director Andrew Niccol. This heartfelt film follows Tom, a 10-year-old boy with a vivid imagination. After the sudden death of his father, Tom retreats into a fantastical world they once shared, where faces come alive in everyday objects!” reads the video description.
This movie looks like a decent trip to the movie for the young kids, but again we feel like we see much of the story in these few minutes. We still recommend watching the trailer, however, as very few people are talking about this movie right now and it may need any eyes it can get.
The aforementioned 23rd July release date is for New Zealand and we’re not sure if other countries will see a wide release of this mone.
