The Last House movie trailer leaves fans ‘triggered’ over Netflix film’s chilling twist
A new Netflix film starring two major award nominees already has fans gripped thanks to an intriguing sci-fi twist
Viewers suffering from claustrophobia should probably look away.
Netflix’s gripping new film The Last House has just dropped its first trailer and subscribers are already hooked.
Starring Greta Lee and Wagner Moura, this must-watch thriller follows a family of four who are suddenly and mysteriously locked inside their home with no way of escaping.
Meanwhile, as rain starts to pour relentlessly outside, they start to suspect that an otherworldly threat is keeping them, their neighbours, and potentially the entire world trapped.
Days and weeks turn to months and years and the family learns to adapt to their strange new reality.
But what’s lurking outside their sealed doors and self-repairing windows? And will they ever escape to find out what’s really been happening?
Director Louis Leterrier (Now You See Me, Lupin) teases to Netflix’s Tudum: “Food is dwindling, and this family has to rely on each other and try to understand what comes next. What’s locking them in, and how will they survive?”
And actress Lee says: “Growing up, my favourite things to watch and read were survivalist stories with a twist. So I was immediately drawn to this story.
“I love the questions this movie asks about our world and how we choose to live in it. And I was excited about the possibility of asking these questions in a new and entertaining way.”
Watch Unchosen on Sky for free

Sky is giving away a free Netflix subscription with its new Sky Stream TV bundles, including the £15 Essential TV plan.
This lets members watch live and on-demand TV content without a satellite dish or aerial and includes hit shows.
This includes the brand new UK drama Unchosen, starring Asa Butterfield and Christopher Eccleston.
Joining Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Lee and Academy Award nominee Moura as parents Ann and Jason are Riley Chung and Noah Alexander Sosnowski portraying their children Ruth and Graham. Emma Ho and Gabriel Barbosa take on the roles as the film progresses and the family spends more and more time locked up.
Following the trailer dropping this Monday (15th June), it quickly scored millions of viewers from eager Netflix fans who have placed the film straight to the top of their streaming watchlist.
“This looks VERY interesting. It’s got my attention, alright!” one fan replied to the trailer on YouTube. Another user said: “I’ve never been so excited for a new Netflix movie in years.”
Someone else said on X: “This looks insanely tense Greta Lee + Wagner Moura trapped in a house? I’m locked in already.”
“Oh this is gonna be wild, will be checking this out,” a final fan said.
However, there are some viewers who are concerned The Last House could hit a little too close to home for those who experienced the Covid-19 lockdowns of 2020-21.
“I was quarantined for 3 years during Covid. This is triggering,” a YouTuber user said. “I’m very curious on how this movie goes.”
And a final viewer added: “Netflix said “what if 2020 but make it a thriller” and honestly we deserve this.”
The Last House premieres 7th August on Netflix.
