Warning: Spoilers ahead for the series finale of The Summer I Turned Pretty.

The cast of The Summer I Turned Pretty have talked about the show’s new movie.

The stars of the hit Prime Video series appeared on the morning show Today on Thursday to drop some hints about the highly anticipated film.

News of the flick broke when the season three finale aired on Wednesday.

When the creator of the show, Jenny Han, was asked if Belly, played by Lola Tung, will marry Conrad, played by Christopher Briney, in the Summer I Turned Pretty movie, she sidestepped the question.

‘I can say there’s another big milestone for Belly, so we’ll continue with that journey,’ Han said.

At the end of the finale, Belly was dating Conrad again

And Jeremiah has move on with another woman after he split from Belly

At the end of the finale, Belly was dating Conrad, and it seemed like the characters would all be moving to the San Francisco area.  There was also a hint they would all be returning to Cousins Beach. 

Han added that she also couldn’t share when the movie will come out. ‘It’s still a little too soon to say,’ she said but she did note that the movie will not come out in 2026.

She has written a first draft for the movie already.

As for Gavin Casalegno, who plays Jeremiah Fisher in the series, he said the popularity of the series has been ‘surreal.’

Briney said he kind of knew he would end up with Belly. ‘I always had a feeling that’s how it was going to go,’ he said.

And Han talked her use of Taylor Swift songs in the series.

‘I’ll just say that Taylor is an amazing storyteller and her music is so evocative and emotional and the way that we could have it peek into Belly’s inner thoughts with her music,’ she said.

Han added the movie would be the ‘final chapter’ for the show.

‘There is another big milestone left in Belly’s journey, and I thought only a movie could give it its proper due,’ Han said in a press release.

The Summer I Turned Pretty ended with Belly choosing Conrad, Jeremiah moving on with another woman, and Belly’s brother getting even closer to Taylor.

The show wrapped up with the note: ‘Maybe we’ll meet again one summer in Cousins.’
