Best films released in the UK this month: June 2026
Steven Spielberg’s Jaws is often considered the first ever Hollywood blockbuster – and more than 50 years later, the great director is still at it.
His new movie Disclosure Day – which sees him return to the subject of UFOs decades after Close Encounters of the Third Kind and ET – is the highlight of this June’s release slate as we fully head into blockbuster season.
There’s also great news for Pixar fans, with Woody, Buzz Lightyear and co back on the big screen in a fifth Toy Story movie, while Nicholas Galitzine has the lead role in a new big screen reboot of Masters of the Universe.
Meanwhile, if it’s outrageous comedy you’re after, there are new instalments in two long-running franchises: Scary Movie and Jackass. The latter of those is being billed as the final entry in the popular stunts and pranks franchise, so get ready to see Johnny Knoxville and friends one last time.
Of course, there are also plenty of smaller releases to complement the big budget behemoths. For example, Sophy Romvari’s semi-autobiographical indie Blue Heron has won significant acclaim on the festival circuit, while Jodie Foster leads the French mystery thriller A Private Life.
To help you pick out the highlights, we’ve put together a selection of some of the best films to watch this month – check out the video above or read on for our choices.
