‘Solo Leveling’ Movie Reportedly Sets 2026 Release Window
Solo Leveling is reportedly getting a movie after the success of its two-season anime run. The anime’s producer, Atsushi Kaneko, previously teased on social media that something is coming, but they can’t share what it is. While there is no official announcement, a recent report suggests this will be the next direction for the anime series, rather than a third season.
GameRant reported that a Solo Leveling movie could come out in 2026, but at the moment, there is no firm release date or an official announcement. A social media post by the user @PLUTO_HADEATH shared a report from the production committee on the anime’s plans and cited the success of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle and Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc as the reason for this direction.
If a Solo Leveling movie is going to follow in the same footsteps of Demon Slayer and Chainsaw Man, it’s likely that the film will adapt a single arc or two. For Solo Leveling, these could be the “Recruitment Arc,” where Season 2 ended, or the “Ahjin Guild Arc,” where Sung Jinwoo builds his own guild after rejecting the established ones since becoming an S-Rank Hunter.
‘Solo Leveling’s Producer Teases Personal Conflict for Sung Jinwoo
Solo Leveling Seasons 1 and 2 tell the story of Sung Jinwoo, who was the weakest hunter of mankind before becoming South Korea’s 10th S-Rank Hunter after he was selected to become a Player from The System. As this hunter continues to gain his strength, his grasp on his humanity slowly slips away as he deals with the emotional and mental toll that comes with his newfound strength — especially when The System tasks him to kill other hunters that threaten him. Before the end of Season 2, Sung Jinwoo asks himself whether he has crossed a line, feeling unease rather than happiness when he was able to cure his mother.
According to Kaneko, Sung Jinwoo’s journey beyond Season 2 would have our hero feel “incomplete,” and that they wanted to show that conflict to the audience. Additionally, as he continues to gain power, his “emotional and moral integrity” will be challenged, and he will face the emotional toll that comes with his newfound strength.
Solo Leveling Seasons 1 and 2 are now streaming on Crunchyroll. Follow Collider for the latest updates.
