The Batman 2 Is ‘Extraordinary,’ Colin Farrell Praises DC Movie’s Script
Colin Farrell has finally read the script to The Batman 2, and the Penguin actor had nothing but praise for the sequel’s story.
What was Colin Farrell’s praise for The Batman 2?
Farrell recently sat down with Josh Horowitz of the Happy Sad Confused podcast to promote his new Netflix movie, Ballad of a Small Player. During their conversation, Farrell shared his thoughts on The Batman: Part II. Farrell confirmed that he read the script and afterwards spoke to director Matt Reeves, who co-wrote the screenplay with Mattson Tomlin. Farrell said he talked with Reeves for an hour
“I had so many thoughts and feelings to share with Matt about the script,” Farrell told Horowitz. “I really do think it’s a masterwork. Kind of a contemporary genre masterwork. It’s so brilliant and Robert [Pattinson] has got such a lovely journey to go on and take the audience through.”
Farrell described himself as a “fanboy” when he initially received the script for The Batman 2. However, Farrell did not read it for two weeks because he was not in the right headspace.
“It’s dense,” Farrell said about the script. “It’s really, really intelligent. It’s so detailed.”
Two weeks later, Farrell sat down with a cup of tea and read the entire screenplay in about two hours.
“It’s really extraordinary,” Farrell explained. “I think he’s going to make an extraordinary film.”
The Batman 2 is the highly anticipated sequel to 2022’s The Batman. Robert Pattinson returns to play Bruce Wayne/Batman. Farrell will reprise his role as Oz/The Penguin. Farrell recently shared that The Batman 2 takes place a “few weeks after” the events of The Penguin, the HBO crime drama set in Reeves’ The Batman Epic Crime Saga.
The Batman 2 is expected to begin filming in the spring of 2026. Directed by Reeves, The Batman 2 is scheduled to be released on October 1, 2027.
