Wicked: For Good has finally hit cinema screens, with the second instalment being longer than the musical show it is based on.

The Wicked film adaptation is based on the smash hit musical starring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo as it explores the unlikely relationship between Elphaba and Glinda.

How long is Wicked: For Good?

The running time for Wicked: For Good is 2 hours and 17 minutes, which is a significant increase compared to the on stage musical. The film, although based on the Broadway show, has added some extras in for fans, including new songs, a wedding and flashback sequences.

This is shorter than the first instalment which ran for 2 hours and 40 minutes.

How does Wicked: For Good end?

Despite the similarities and differences, what come as a surprise to fans is an unexpected final twist.

With major parallels to The Wizard of Oz, Wicked For Good ultimately sees Elphaba finding love with Fiyero as the two flee Oz, with Glinda believing both have died.

As she escapes, Elphaba says: “I wish Glinda could know we’re alive, but she can’t. No one can ever know.”

With subsequent events, Glinda soon becomes the ruler of Oz. Despite Glinda believing Elphaba is dead, in the film, she is in fact potentially alerted to the fact Elphaba is alive somewhere, leading fans to believe – or hope – a third instalment could eventually be made.

There is no end credit scene at the end of the film, leaving fans wondering whether there will be a third instalment.
