Guess who’s back, back again. If you guessed the parody franchise Scary Movie, then you’re right. The new Scary Movie 2026 opens in theaters this weekend, and for some reason, it’s titled Scary Movie, and not Scary Movie 6. That’s confusing!

That said, this is the sixth film in the series created by Shawn and Marlon Wayans, which first launched with Scary Movie back in 2000—a parody of horror slasher flicks that was heavily influenced by Scream. For this new film, the Wayans brothers are back, having departed from the franchise after the second film, over creative differences with the producers. The sixth film is being called the “spiritual sequel” to the first two films. Whatever that means!

In the cast, Marlon Wayans is back as Shorty Meeks, Shawn Wayans is back as Ray Wilkins, Anna Farris is back as Cindy Campbell, and Regina Hall is back as Brenda Meeks. Much like the plot of the new Scream movies, this new Scary Movie will find this old group of friends reunited with the masked killer. Based on the trailer, you can expect references to a lot of new modern horror hits, including Sinners, M3GAN, Weapons, and more. And of course, everyone’s favorite stoner version of Ghostface will be back.

Where to watch the new Scary Movie 2026 movie:

Scary Movie 2026 will only be available to watch in a movie theater, when it opens in theaters in the U.S. on Friday, June 5. You can find a showing near you via Fandango. Scary Movie 2026 is not yet available to watch online or on streaming.

Is the Scary Movie 6 movie streaming on Netflix or Prime Video?

Scary Movie 2026 is not streaming on Netflix or Prime Video, and likely will not be on Netflix any time soon, due to the fact that the film is a Paramount Pictures release. Almost all Paramount movies go to Paramount’s streaming platform, Paramount+, and not to Netflix.

You will be able to purchase Scary Movie 2026 on Prime Video eventually, when the movie becomes available to buy and rent on digital, but you will not be able to stream Scary Movie 2026 on Prime Video free with a Prime subscription any time soon. If you want to watch the new Scary Movie at home, you’ll have to wait for the film to be available to buy or rent on digital platforms, or wait for it to stream on Paramount+.

Paramount+ offers two subscription plans, Essential and Premium. The ad-supported Essential plan costs $8.99/month, while the ad-free Premium plan (which comes with Showtime titles and live CBS) costs $13.99/month.

When will Scary Movie 2026 be streaming on Paramount+?

You might see Scary Movie 6 streaming on Paramount+ around late April 2026.

The official Scary Movie 6 Paramount+ streaming date has not yet been announced. Right now, the movie is only in theaters. That said, we do expect to see Scary Movie 2026 streaming on Paramount+ eventually, but we’re not sure when. Another recent Paramount film, Scream 7, was released on digital platforms one month after opening in theaters, and began streaming on Paramount+ about three months after opening in theaters.

If Scary Movie 6 follows a similar release pattern, you might see the movie on digital around early July 2026, and streaming on Paramount+ around early September 2026. (Presuming that Paramount+ and HBO Max have not yet combined into one streamer yet, as they plan to do.)

But this is all speculation. If you want to watch the new Scary Movie 2026 movie right away, you can catch the movie in theaters. In the meantime, you can watch the first five Scary Movie films streaming on Paramount+.
