Jason Statham’s Epic New Action Movie From ‘Greenland’s Director Sets Release Date
After Jason Statham reunited with director David Ayer for A Working Man earlier this year, his next big project just got a major release update. News broke yesterday afternoon that Statham’s next action thriller, which has been titled Shelter, will be released on January 30, 2026. This comes not long after another movie Statham had in the works, Mutiny, was delayed from its January 9 release date. The film will now reportedly be released sometime in the summer. All signs pointed to a large gap between Statham’s action vehicles after A Working Man, but now the gap will seemingly be less than a year.
Shelter follows Mason (Statham), a man living alone by the sea who finds himself in a predicament after he chooses to save a young girl from drowning in a terrible storm. This unknowingly sets off a chain reaction that takes him down a violent path, forcing him to confront dark secrets from his past that he would have preferred to stay buried. Ward Perry wrote the script for Shelter, and Ric Roman Waugh directed the film. Next year will be a big year for Waugh, who will also release Greenland: Migration on January 9. The film stars Gerard Butler.
Now 58 years old, Jason Statham is showing no signs of slowing down when it comes to delivering compelling action movies every year. Just before A Working Man, Statham starred in The Beekeeper, which was an instant fan favorite. The sequel to The Beekeeper also began filming last Friday. Statham was also recently seen reprising his role as Deckard Shaw in Fast X, and he’s expected to return in a larger capacity in Fast X: Part 2, which is now in production.
