Little-known action thriller ‘as good as John Wick’ on Film 4 tonight
This 2021 film stars Bob Odenkirk, Aleksey Serebryakov and Gladiator star Connie Nielsen and has had fans claiming ‘you must watch this’ and that it’s ‘worth every penny’
Action film fans are in for a treat with a film that has been hailed as good as the John Wick franchise is on TV tonight.
With the tagline, “never underestimate a nobody” this 2021 film stars Bob Odenkirk, Aleksey Serebryakov and Gladiator star Connie Nielsen. Nobody was directed by Ilya Naishuller, written by Derek Kolstad, and produced by Odenkirk himself. According to IMDB the plot is simple: “A docile family man slowly reveals his true character after his house gets burgled by two petty thieves, which, coincidentally, leads him into a bloody war with a Russian crime boss.”
Nobody features action sequences with Odenkirk taking on most of his own stunts as the lead actor after he underwent two years of physical training. The movie’s story was also said to be partly inspired by Odenkirk’s own experiences with home invasions, though he has stated the traumatic ones were not the primary motivation behind the intense storyline.
For film fans looking for an action packed watch, Nobody appears to tick the boxes with viewers full of praise for Odenkirk in the leading role. Filled with witty and high paced action sequences, many film fans have said it’s perfect for those that love films like John Wick.
Writing on Rotten Tomatoes, one review gave the film five stars with a simple review: “This movie is good because its like a more mild version of john wick.’
Another five star review wrote: “Very entertaining. I’m a huge John wick fan and I loved how this had its own flair and cause. Made me want to watch the second one right after. I always enjoy getting to watch Bob Odenkirk. And this was such a very fun movie. We laughed out loud several times. It was extremely enjoyable. If you enjoy action movies at all, you must watch this. Christopher Lloyd really looked like he was genuinely enjoying himself,” said another with five stars.
Others claimed the film was ‘worth every penny’, as one person wrote: “I finally watched it.. This action movie is a smash. Worth every penny.”
Another begged for film fans to see it, as they posted” ‘”Excellent movie! I have watched it over and over again, and have loved it everytime. Must see movie for action fans!”
Film fans also got a second hit with a sequel, Nobody 2, released in the summer picking up where the other film ended.
The sequel has also earned five star reviews and praise from movie fans as many claim they’ve been ‘binge watching’ the two together.
