With the film’s release just a month away, a new TV spot revealed that the Resident Evil live-action movie will feature first-person scenes.

There have been plenty of Resident Evil movies over the years, whether it’s the Paul W.S. Anderson live-action films or the canon animated movies. As such, it’s no surprise that yet another Resident Evil adaptation is set to be released, though it’s quite different from the previous ones.

That’s because this new movie will feature an all-new cast of characters, meaning we won’t see RE series icons like Leon S. Kennedy or Jill Valentine here. What’s more, the film will be set in an alternate timeline, though the latest trailer does confirm that it will take place in Raccoon City.

What also makes it interesting is that it’s directed by Zach Cregger, the director of acclaimed horror films Barbarian and Weapons. Given Cregger’s track record, we have high hopes for this film.

Of course, while the film won’t be set in the same universe as the games, it does feature plenty of nods, along with signature Resident Evil moments like the protagonist scrambling for ammo in drawers. Now, it was revealed that the movie will feature first-person POV scenes – another nod to the games (at least, Resident Evil 7 and Village).

This was revealed in a new TV spot for the film, which was shared by DiscussingFilm. While they don’t seem to be all that long, the first-person POV shots do look quite interesting, as they should be effective in amping up the scares.

It’s fair to say that the previous Resident Evil movies aren’t the best in terms of story and horror. Given what we’ve seen so far, we hope that this movie will finally give the iconic horror franchise a movie adaptation that can stand alongside the games in terms of quality.

The Resident Evil movie by Zach Cregger will be released in the US on September 18, 2026, and in the Philippines on September 16, 2026.
