7 new movies and series coming to Netflix UK in October 2025
If September can sometimes be styled as “late summer”, October most definitely can’t. It’s getting cold now. The excellent films and TV shows arriving on Netflix this month will take your mind off all that, though. If you’re one to start hunkering down in front of your TV or laptop the moment it hits jacket weather outside, there’s plenty of new stuff to keep you occupied.
What have we got? New series of existing favourites Nobody Wants This and The Witcher – the latter, of course, a horror arriving right on time for spooky season. Great original Netflix films: the Idris Elba-helmed thriller A House of Dynamite, and the equally nervy Steve, starring Cillian Murphy. And for the film bros, a 12-year-old Coen brothers classic is coming online. Can’t say fairer than that.
Inside Llewyn Davis (2013)
1 October
This Coen brothers dramedy feels like an extremely autumn-coded film, involving as it does a lot of knitwear, acoustic guitars and chilly cityscapes. We’re in 1960s New York, and Llewyn Davis (Oscar Isaac) is a struggling folk singer very much not establishing a toehold in the Greenwich Village scene. Justin Timberlake swaps club bangers for twanging vocal harmonies as fellow singer Jim Berkey; Adam Driver takes a similar role. There’s also a ginger cat called Ulysses that almost steals the entire show. Moody, meditative and very, very good.
Cunk on Life (2024)
